It’s been an exciting start to March 2020, as we’ve had the opportunity to work on the DLC launch event for Ubisoft’s ‘The Division 2: Warlords of New York’. Working for Fourth Floor Creative, we showed off the new content with several Twitch streamers, but with a twist!
Our hosts - Lydia @squidgaming and Bongeh from @2Angrygamers, gave chat the option to vote on a series of Plagues; challenges that would have each of our 4 streamers perform a potentially cruel task to make the game harder for the team. Bringing viewers together from all their respective channels over to twitch.tv/yogscast, each plague was picked out of a selection of 4 by the audience on Twitch Chat.
What were the final plagues though? Well, they ended up like this -
@Psysyn - Poison Gas; Wearing a mask with a strong unpleasant odour, strapped to his face.
@YogscastHarry - Revenge is a Dish Best Served cold - having to eat some frozen chunky soup before being allowed to continue playing the game.
@Stodeh - The Big Man - Arm wrestling our 2 hosts.
@Ellacronin - Readers of the Lost Graff - Searching the studio for some hidden game codes.
The 2 hour stream was a success, with great interaction from chat and all our talent delivering great content.
How did it come together though? Shooting at Yogscast Studios in Bristol, where both the Yogscast and Fourth Floor Creative are based, Viridian VS supplied our experience in Directing, Vision Mixing and live Graphics. Working along side the Engineering team and Producers, we wrangled the schedule for the show to keep it loose and fun, and still achieve a creative outcome.
There were some technical processes in keeping all our sources at what games expect; 1080p60. Employing NDI and a lot of layering in our vision mixer of choice - a Newtek TC-1, there was the right collective skills in the team meaning the show could have some quality picture-in-picture (in-picture-in-picture-in picture-in-picture!) action.
Of course, many thanks to those involved and personal thanks to Yogscast’s Sam, TJ and Fourth Floors Michael for pulling together for a great show!
